What’s the Best Way to Fix My Cracked Sump Pump Pipe?

Hey everyone! I just checked my sump pump for the first time in a while and noticed that the pipe is cracked in a few places. The pump doesn't run often since I live on a hill, and usually, the water issues I deal with are from rainwater seeping down my foundation, not really from the water table. I've improved my drainage in recent years, but I still find this crack concerning, especially since it looks like something was replaced in the past and not done well. Given that I've never seen the pump function, I'm wondering if I should just flex tape the crack for now and check it during heavy rain or if there's a more permanent solution I can try myself. Should I just call a plumber for this?

Honestly, it's best to replace those cracked pipes completely. If you can, find someone who knows how to properly glue the joints and secure the fittings around the check valve. Just make sure all connections are tight to avoid any future leaks!

I suggest using a PVC saw to cut out the damaged section and then install a new piece in its place. Just ensure you get the correct size! The part you're referring to is indeed the check valve, which prevents water from flowing back into the sump after the pump runs. You might want to check if a flexible tube would work as a temporary fix too. Just make sure everything is secure.
