How Can I Identify This Wood Flooring?

Asked By WanderlustG4 On

I have some photos of the wood flooring in my house that I need help identifying. The previous owners kept the carpet in another room, and I'm trying to match the wood. The house was built in 1984 and is located in Virginia, USA. Any insights on what type of wood this is or what kind of stain might have been used would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Looks like it’s probably oak, and I’d say it’s red oak instead of white oak. If you're aiming to match the stain exactly, it might be tricky. To get the best results, you should use the same type of wood and sand both the new piece and your current flooring. After that, you can pick any stain or finish you like!

That's fantastic advice! Matching the wood type is key, and sanding it down first is a smart move. Good luck with the project!
