Can I safely park my car in a garage with mold and mushrooms?

I discovered a large orange mushroom growing on the windowsill of my garage and I've removed it along with rotten wood, soaking everything in bleach. My main concern is whether it's safe to continue parking my car in there, given that I like to keep my vehicle clean and in good condition. Any advice?

Mushrooms and mold are different issues. If you’ve got a leak near that garage window that resulted in mold, that’s what you need to fix. Regular use of your car and keeping it dry should keep it safe in the garage, but be cautious if there's mold on the wood too.

I'm reading up on repairing the wall. I really want to know if anyone else has parked in similar situations without issues. I've got an older 911, and I don’t want it to get moldy! Until I figure this out, I've rented a storage unit for now.

It’s good that your car isn’t damp and only sees use once a month, but keeping a close eye on the garage's condition is smart.

While those mushrooms aren't likely to harm your car, the underlying mold and water damage could pose a risk. I'd suggest parking it somewhere else until you can dry out the garage and get everything sorted out. It's better to be cautious!

I've got some fans running on the windowsill now, and the garage is looking good! I keep a dehumidifier running at 40% humidity, so it's actually more comfortable in there than my house during summer.
