Hey everyone! I'm looking to expand my succulent collection with some unique cold-hardy varieties. I already know the basics like stonecrop and Sempervivum, but I'm hoping to find something a bit more unusual, similar to Graptopetalum paraguayense or the Graptosedum 'Francesco Baldi.' I'm also interested in options like ice plants (Malepohora, Lampranthus, Drosanthemum, etc.). I live in zone 7b, although lately, winters have felt more like zone 8a. I've got a southwest-facing balcony, and I'm willing to protect my plants with agro textile if it gets too cold. Any suggestions for lesser-known succulents that can handle these conditions? I'd love to hear about your own experiences with borderline hardy varieties! Thanks a bunch!

You should check out Mountain Crest Gardens online. They have lots of info on cold-hardy succulents and even ideal varieties for your zone. It’s super helpful!
I don't have direct experience, but I can point you to some great lists for zones 7b and 8a! Just remember that some plants, like Graptopetalum paraguayense, aren’t always listed correctly since they can actually handle colder temps than mentioned. Personal experience often makes the difference!
Thanks for your reply! I appreciate the lists, but I noticed some of those plants don’t reflect their true hardiness based on my own experience. It’s always good to mix theory with practice!
