I've been gardening for a while and usually wear these plastic gardening shoes called sloggers, but they don't offer much support for my feet. Since I often start early in the morning when the grass is still wet, I really need something that's water-resistant. Does anyone have suggestions for better options?

For flat feet, the Hunter "Original Short" rain boots are great! They’re really comfy, and you can find them cheaper at places like Nordstrom Rack.
You might also want to check out disposable waterproof shoe covers—they're reusable, and there are those bright yellow ones that construction workers use. They actually work pretty well for keeping your shoes dry!
Have you considered going barefoot? Grounding is really popular right now, but honestly, with all the sticks and stones in my yard, I prefer shoes when gardening.
If you're using rubber boots, just pop in some insoles for extra comfort! You can trim the tops down if they feel too tall. Plus, they're waterproof!
You could also get the Dansko Kane clogs—while they aren't waterproof, they're very supportive and durable. I keep mine on my back porch to slip on for gardening without worrying about thorns or feeling sore from digging.
I like wearing plastic Birkenstocks, but I don’t use them when the grass is wet. Crocs are comfy, but I'm considering getting their boots since they seem like they’d work better for moist conditions.
I totally get that! I find Crocs comfortable too, but I avoid wearing them on the grass in the morning due to dew. Hunter boots might be a good alternative!
I’ve had good luck with older tennis shoes that have gel pads; they're surprisingly comfy! Otherwise, I recommend closed-toe hiking sandals—they’re around $40, easy to clean, and provide great support and protection.
I hear you on the gel pads, but when I had a super rainy June, my feet got soaked. I ended up having to change socks multiple times—it was a hassle!

Grounding sounds nice, but I wouldn't feel safe without shoes, especially when I'm stepping into the garden beds with all the debris around!
