I'm planning to build a portable joinery chest and bench for my work travels, and I'm considering using a Moxon vise. I've come across Taytools hardware kits that seem affordable and decent, but I noticed they don't use Acme screws like some other options. Does anyone here have experience with Taytools? How does it compare to Moxon vises that utilize Acme screws? Also, there's a mid-size version with different threads—any thoughts on that?

I can't directly comment on the Moxon vise hardware, but I've used some Taytools clamps, and they felt a bit rough compared to some premium brands like Jorgensen or Dubuque. The threads on the Taytools gear don't glide as smoothly, so you might find it a little frustrating. If you can afford a better alternative, I'd suggest going that route. If budget is tight, the square nut version might be your best bet.
I've found that ACME screw kits can be pretty pricey compared to Taytools' options. I've watched some reviews on the Taytools hardware, and while they might not be top-of-the-line, they could still be a decent budget-friendly choice if you're just starting out.
