I've been noticing that my M12 Surge impact driver doesn't seem to pack the same punch as it used to. When I'm trying to drive screws, like the 3" screw into my barn door, it takes over 10 seconds, which feels way too long. The tool sounds and looks fine otherwise. I've seen reviews online where people are driving similar or even larger screws much faster. I've tried using both a 4.0 and a 5.0 HO battery, and they're both fully charged. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Should I take it to a service center for a check-up?

That doesn’t sound right! My M12 Surge still performs like a champ, even with a lower battery. If yours is lagging, definitely consider having it looked at or explore those alternative models.
Have you checked if the settings are correctly adjusted? Sometimes, if the setting isn’t right, it can make the tool feel underpowered. I recommend setting it to 3, but make sure you’ve tried all the settings. Just to rule it out!
It seems like they might have changed the M12 Surge model over the years. I've heard from others who've compared older and newer models, and it appears the newer ones aren't as powerful. My M12 Surge hasn't impressed me either. For better performance, look into the 3453 M12 Fuel Impact driver or the M12 Installation driver instead. They've really upgraded those! Also, I’ve heard they are working on a Gen 2 Surge. Fingers crossed that it improves things!
I can relate! My M12 Surge went downhill too, and I own a bunch of Milwaukee tools as well. It used to be my go-to for deck screws, and now it struggles with certain materials.

Yeah, I’ve tried setting it to 3 and even all the other options. It’s just not performing like it used to.
