I'm trying to find a good method to transmit a live video feed from an RPi camera to a remote control. This setup is for a hybrid FPV drone/car combo, but I'm facing the challenge of not having a line of sight. Since I live in a city, there are a lot of obstacles between the drone and the remote. I'm open to any solutions except for LTE and satellite options, as I can't afford any monthly fees right now.

I saw a similar scenario where a robot competition team used VHF relay systems to tackle non-line-of-sight issues by dropping relay transceivers along the route. It's a bit involved, but it could work! I've also had good luck with cheaper 315MHz AM modules for longer distances, but video transmission needs more bandwidth. You might even explore building a high-power transceiver to overcome some of the signal loss.
