I'm looking to make wood cookie slices from tree branches that are about 8-15 cm in diameter, including birch and aspen. I've found a few 9-inch bandsaws that I can get locally without a hassle, and they're all similarly priced. The options are a Mastercraft Bandsaw, a Porter-Cable Stationary Band Saw, and a RYOBI 9-Inch Band Saw. Given the thickness I want (around 1 cm), I need some advice on whether these are good choices or if I should be looking at something bigger. Also, do you have any recommendations for specific blades since I'm primarily cutting wood cookies?

Just a heads up: a 9-inch bandsaw won't cut through those 15 cm branches. Typically, they can only handle a maximum cutting depth of about 3 to 3.5 inches (7.5 to 8.75 cm). To handle larger pieces, you'd want to look at a 10-inch bandsaw or possibly another tool altogether. If you're planning to make a few hundred cookies, a pull saw might drive you crazy! If you've got a mitre saw, that could work, but be careful; it might launch those cookies at you!

I had the same misconception about the cut depth! If you need that many slices, maybe check out a bigger bandsaw or ask about a local woodshop. They often have the equipment to help out without you having to invest in something you won't use often.
