Best Storage Ideas for Heavy Tools?

Asked By HouseRenovator99 On

Hey everyone! After three years of intense renovations on my house, I've ended up with a massive collection of tools—everything from hammers and chisels to crowbars. Now that the heavy work is mostly wrapped up, I want to organize my tools better. I'm looking for smart storage solutions beyond just tossing them into a bulky box that becomes impossible to lift after just a few items. What do you all use to store your heavier tools? Any tips or products you recommend?

I keep my hammers and crowbars in a toolbox drawer or hung on a wall. My chisels are mostly in a drawer too, though if they were sharper, I might consider putting them on a dedicated wall holder. For my other heavy tools, I actually got a Stanley Fatmax rolling box, which makes transporting everything a breeze!

The Stanley rolling box is a great choice! I love mine. It’s super handy for moving tools around.

For my hammers and crowbars, I prefer hanging them up on a wall. I've used pegboards and utility hooks, which makes it easy to grab what I need quickly. It really depends on your space, but having them accessible near your workbench is super handy. You can even make custom hooks by drilling holes in a piece of wood—totally worth it!

I found that magnetic strips are fantastic for chisels! You definitely don’t want to toss them in a box where they could get damaged. For my hammers and crowbars, I just use a random box that doesn’t really move around. It’s not glamorous, but it works!

Good call on the magnetic strips! They really keep everything organized and easy to access.

Thanks for the tip! I was thinking of those magnetic strips, especially for my old stone chisels. I should probably sharpen them up too and keep them nice.
