Why can’t I find a 34″ prehung door?

I've installed various door sizes like 28", 30", 32", and 36", and naturally thought a 34" prehung door would be available since other 2" increments are common. I'm converting an old opening to make a new bedroom from a living room, and the rough opening is 36"x82". I planned to put a 34" door in, but it seems neither Lowe's nor Home Depot has any in stock. Is there a reason for this, or am I missing something? Are 34" doors out there, or should I just settle for a 32" and make some adjustments?

You should be able to find 34" prehung doors! I checked and they’re typically stocked at Lowe's and Home Depot where I live in NH. If they're not available in your local store, you might want to order one for pickup—many places can do that!

Just because they’re not in stock doesn't mean they’re unavailable. You can usually order them; just check with the store about their ordering options.
