Hey everyone! I'm in the process of removing about 150 feet of bamboo privacy fence that was put in about 10 years ago. It's been well-contained and I plan to wait at least two seasons without new growth to make sure it's gone for good. I've got a couple of reference photos for what I'm dealing with. My plan is to cut all the culms to ground level using either loppers or a brush cutting attachment for a weed eater, then apply roundup to the cuts. After that, I'll cut the culms into more manageable lengths for disposal and let new growth reach about 3 feet before cutting again and applying roundup. I'm a bit new to this bamboo removal thing, so I'm looking for advice on my approach or any tools that others have found effective. Thanks!

You might want to consider getting a chipper to shred the bamboo on site. It makes disposal a lot easier and minimizes the hassle of handling all that material afterwards. Plus, it could save you some time!
For cutting mature bamboo, I’d definitely recommend using a sawzall; it's really effective. For handling the rhizomes or rootballs, a sharp digging bar or a pickaxe works wonders. When the new growth comes up, it's softer and can be taken care of with simpler tools like a lawnmower or a hatchet. Just be aware that bamboo can dull your cutting tools pretty quickly, so it might be good to budget for replacements.

Thanks for the tip! A chipper sounds like a great idea, I'll look into renting one. It should help a lot with the clean-up!
