Hey everyone! I recently picked up a used Makita corded track saw and I'm looking to buy some rails for it. I'm planning to use the saw primarily for cabinet work and other DIY projects. I do my cutting on the driveway, so space isn't really an issue. I have a garage to store the rails and a Dewalt table saw that I roll outside for use. I'm thinking it might be best to get a Makita set of rails including a 3m, 1.5m, and 1m for long and wide cuts—this way I can avoid having to join rails altogether. This would set me back about £210. On the flip side, I could opt for 2 Evolution G2 rails of 1.4m each with a joining rail, totaling £90, but I've read that joined tracks might not be very accurate, and many people find 1.4m a bit short for full sheets. I'm more geared towards future-proofing my setup, but I don't see myself needing to do too many long rips right now. What are your thoughts or experiences with these options?

I've heard that having one long track for full sheets and a shorter one for cross cuts is super handy. I can't vouch for those specific Evolution rails, but I prefer sticking with one brand. If you think you might get a 3000mm track later, just start with a 1.4m from a brand that offers that length. That way, when you're ready to buy the longer track, you'll be good to go!

Thanks for the tips! I'm starting to lean toward getting a 1.5m Makita track first, then possibly adding a 3m down the line.
