Best Practices for Mudjacking a Patio Near Siding?

I'm planning to mudjack my concrete patio since it's slanted slightly towards my house. The plan is to raise it a few inches away from the siding, but the contractor suggests cutting 1-2 inches off the concrete at the edge. They also recommend removing the bottom row of siding and reflashing it at the new grade line. Is this the right approach? I've been thinking about possibly cutting 12-18 inches of concrete away from the house to allow space for stone and easy access to the drain tile and foundation wall if necessary.

When mudjacking, you want to maintain 4-6 inches between the grade and the bottom of the siding. If you're raising it, ensure it's not too close to the siding after the job. Adding a channel with a French drain would definitely help prevent water issues - I’d highly recommend it!

What do you think would be the ideal amount of concrete to cut back? I was thinking around 18 inches from the siding would work.

It's important to keep the top of your foundation wall at least 6 inches above the grade. Ideally, your patio shouldn't be more than an inch below that. If you mudjack too high, it could lead to water issues, so be careful with your elevation. Cutting 12-18 inches away from the siding sounds like a safer choice because it allows you to stay below the foundation height.

That's exactly what I'm leaning towards! Keeping it below the foundation is a solid plan.
