I'm currently dealing with an 8x8 brick patio at my townhouse that isn't in the best shape, and I'm being fined by my HOA because of loose bricks and weeds. It's a shared space, and while I don't own the patio itself, I've been told I'm responsible for keeping it maintained. Since I'm looking to sell the house soon, I need some budget-friendly solutions to improve it without doing a full renovation. Any suggestions? I'm located in upstate NY.

For a quick and cheap fix, you might want to start by pulling up any loose bricks and re-leveling the base with sand. After that, replace the bricks tightly and fill the gaps with a polymeric sand to prevent weeds from coming back. It’s a simple DIY that can make a huge difference. Just make sure the bricks are firmly set before you finish!
If you don’t want to dig into a lot of work, you could also just power wash the bricks and pull the weeds to make it look cleaner. Throwing down some landscape fabric and mulch around the edges can help manage the weeds without a lot of hassle. Low effort but might satisfy the HOA for now!
That’s a smart suggestion! A clean-up might buy you enough time until you can do a proper fix.

Good idea! Just ensure you also check for any drainage issues, too. If water pools, it could lead to more problems down the road.
