I'm looking for the best methods to ripen my tomatoes. Right now, I have them stored in a dark closet in a box, while my peppers are sitting on a sunny ledge. Is there a proper way to ensure my tomatoes ripen well?

Honestly, I let my tomatoes ripen on the plants. I’ve never really understood why people pick them early and go through all these extra steps! If I do have to pick them greenish, it's usually late in the season, and I just leave them out in a basket on my grill canopy. They do great without any fuss!
I just put mine on the bench right next to the other fruits. It might not be the 'correct' method, but it works for me!
I let mine sit in a bowl on the counter. If I want to speed things up, I throw some bananas on top since they release ethylene gas which helps ripen the tomatoes faster!

I’ve heard that some people pick them as soon as they start blushing to help the plant focus its energy elsewhere.
