Best Ways to Test Garden Soil for Lead Contamination?

Hey everyone! I'm located in Washington state, not too far from a small airport (about half a mile to a mile away). I recently learned that small aircraft are still using leaded fuel, which made me worry about lead exposure in my garden. Does anyone have suggestions on how to test the soil for lead, especially since our county lab doesn't offer this service? Also, how concerned should I really be given our proximity to the airport?

Even if you're not in the King Conservation District, you can still get your soil tested by mailing a sample to them. They have a program for healthy soils that’s free for locals and $35 for non-residents, which is a pretty good deal!

I totally get your concern! I had a similar issue and I ended up sending my soil samples to the USU lab. They did a great job testing for lead and you can check out their website for more details on how to send your samples in.
