I'm currently working on a remodel where the homeowner changed their mind about the ceiling color after faux beams were already installed. I'm worried that standard masking tape and plastic might not effectively prevent paint from bleeding onto the uneven texture of the beams. Plus, I want to avoid damaging the beams when it's time to remove the tape. I'd really appreciate any tips or advice on how to properly mask the beams for this project!

You could skip the tape altogether and just paint carefully using a good brush. It might be a bit tricky, but it's definitely doable. Plus, if the homeowner changed the plan, they should also cover any extra time you spend making the edges look clean!

Totally agree! Sometimes it's just easier to go with a brush. Plus, using a 12-inch drywall knife can help line the edges neatly without too much hassle.
