Will My Yellow Lab Scratch My Hardwood Floors?

I just bought a beautiful new home with hardwood floors, and I'm watching a yellow lab for the next 9 days. His nails seem trimmed, but I'm still worried about scratching. I can only hear a bit of noise when he walks, but I get concerned when he gets excited. Should I be worried about any significant damage to my floors in this time?

You might want to consider using a nail grinder to smooth out his nails a bit more just to be safe. The type of finish on your floors can impact how much damage is done if he does scratch them, so it's hard to say how noticeable it might be. Better to take precautions!

Honestly, I wouldn't stress too much. If he scratches a little, it'll probably blend in with the wood, and you won't notice it after a while. Just keep an eye on him and enjoy your time together!

If you're super worried, try putting some rubber booties on him while he’s indoors. They can help minimize scratches, although it might take him some time to get used to them!
