Is It Worth Paying More for a Trusted Roofing Company?

I'm planning to get my roof completely redone before winter—this involves stripping the old roof, removing a skylight, replacing all the plywood, flashing, and fixing a ceiling hole from the skylight. I've received several quotes, but there's one company I really liked from the start because I've heard great things about them, and a friend even used to work there. However, their quote is higher than the others, though it's within my budget. They offer a 50-year workmanship warranty, which none of the other companies can match or offer. I'm trying to decide if it makes sense to invest more in something that might be comparable to the other options while gaining peace of mind. Someone mentioned that their quote seemed high compared to what they paid before COVID, but it's worth considering inflation, right? For context, my roof is around 1300 sqft, including an attached garage, and their quote came to $19k.

Just a heads up—the 50-year warranty does sound great, but I’ve heard some insurance companies won't cover roofs over 30 years old anymore, so be cautious. I got my roof done with similar shingles and paid extra for them, but the quality seemed worth it. Just make sure you’re clear about what the roof warranty really covers when it comes to insurance!

It really depends on the price difference. If it’s just a few hundred bucks more on a $19k project, I wouldn’t sweat that. But if other reliable companies are quoting you significantly lower, let’s say around $15k, it’s worth comparing the service and quality. Quality doesn’t always equate to paying a premium, so keep that in mind!

Honestly, I'd lean towards paying a bit more for someone reliable, especially for a project this size. You've got to consider the price of peace of mind—it can be worth it! Sounds like you trust this company, and that's a big plus. Plus, the warranty they're offering is pretty solid, right?

I feel you! Sometimes just knowing you’re with a company you can trust makes all the difference.
