Is My Sprinkler System Using Water from the Softener?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out if the water for my outdoor sprinklers is being filtered through my water softener. It seems wasteful if that's the case. Does anyone know how I can check this? Thanks!

You should be able to trace the pipes back from your sprinkler to see where they're pulling water from. If there’s a main line split before entering the house, your sprinklers are likely fine. Otherwise, you may need to do some digging to check connection points.

Honestly, it might not be a big deal for some people, but you definitely want to avoid using softened water on your lawn. It's not great for it! I run mine straight from the well, but if your setup is different, consider having a bypass.

Check for a shutoff valve specifically for your softener. It shouldn't be a bypass valve. Once you find it, try running your sprinkler to see if it affects the flow.
