I'm looking to swap out the light fixture on my yard lamp post to go with my new outdoor lighting setup. My current lamp post has an electric eye sensor built into it, and I'm wondering if I can connect this sensor to a new fixture or if it's better to just buy a dusk to dawn unit instead.

Absolutely, you can reuse the existing sensor. Just make sure to connect the wires from the sensor to your new fixture just like they are now. They should work together without issues!
I’d recommend getting an all-in-one light unit. It can save you some hassle, and just double-check that your electric company doesn't claim ownership on the light post itself. That's important before making any changes!
