Help! Thrips are Destroying My Plants – What Can I Do?

I've been struggling with a thrips infestation for some time now, and while they haven't caused huge damage yet, there are noticeable holes and trails on several leaves. I'm located in Germany, and I find it frustrating that some effective pesticides like Spinosad aren't available to me. I've tried using pyrethrum spray and Acetamiprid as a systemic treatment, watering and spraying every leaf. I thought I had it covered, but after getting some new plants (that I'm pretty sure were clean), the thrips have come back even stronger! I've just ordered predatory mites to tackle the issue, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm considering neem oil next, but I've got my doubts about its effectiveness. Does anyone have additional suggestions or links to products that might help?

I’m based in the Netherlands and I've had good luck with diatomaceous earth. It’s not a miracle cure, but it helps keep things in check. Sometimes I have to treat a specific plant a few times or just squish them with my fingers when I spot one. After struggling with these pests for three years, my plants are finally thriving again with just the occasional thrips scare.

How do you actually apply the diatomaceous earth? Do you just sprinkle it on, or do you mix it with water to spray?
