Hey everyone! We're getting our home ready to sell and noticed some cracks on the garage floor. I'm looking into using epoxy to make it look brand new, but I'm really worried about how slippery it might get during winter, especially with all the snow we get in Chicago. Has anyone here had an epoxied garage floor, and if so, how has it held up in snowy conditions? My cracks are larger than just hairline ones.

Epoxy can be risky in snowy weather. I’ve heard that once it’s down, there’s pretty much no going back, and it can end up being a slippery mess in winter. I’d say if the cracks are larger, you might want to think carefully about this option. Just keep in mind that a natural concrete floor might do better with the snow and ice situation!
Honestly, I think epoxy isn’t the best choice for Chicago winters. Regular concrete absorbs moisture and dries naturally, but epoxy tends to puddle, which can lead to slips and a lot of maintenance to keep it clean. If your cracks aren’t too severe, you might be better off just leaving the floor as it is—most garages have some minor cracks and it's usually not a deal-breaker.
