I've got a three-bedroom house that I haven't been spending much time in for the past five years. I only clean it about once a month, but after staying there recently for a night, I noticed this annoying itch that lingered for about five days after I left. I'm wondering what steps I should take to eliminate this itch from the house. Will a thorough cleaning and some pesticides do the trick, or should I also think about replacing the vents? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's possible that the issue is tied to dust mites since you're allergic to them. If the house has been empty for a while, dust can accumulate quickly. I’d recommend putting down some sticky traps to catch any hidden pests. Also, make sure to clean frequently and keep windows open for good airflow. That should help a lot!
Since you mentioned that you're not showering there often, it could be the buildup of dust or even some insect problem. However, if you had a pest control expert check it out recently and they ruled out bed bugs, that's a good sign. It’s likely just the fact that the house has been empty. Regular visits and cleaning will probably solve the itch!
Absolutely, if you take better care of the place and keep things moving, I bet you’ll notice a difference soon!

Yeah, I definitely think that keeping up with regular cleaning and airing it out will really help with the itchiness. It'll give those dust bunnies no place to hide!
