Should I Use Grout or Caulk for My Tub Trim?

I've removed all the old, moldy caulking from my tub and I'm planning to recaulk with GE premium silicone where the tub meets the bottom trim tile. However, I'm unsure about the top seam where the wall meets the trim. Should I use grout there, or would caulk be the better option? Or would it be best to grout first and then caulk after? What do you recommend?

Just to clarify, it sounds like you're dealing with wall tile that meets a quarter round trim at your tub. For the seam at the top of the quarter round, yeah, caulk that part too! Oh, and if the quarter-round meets a non-tile wall, use a paintable caulk instead. But between the quarter-round and the field tile? You can grout that one.

You definitely want to caulk between the wall and the trim! It’s important because it allows for expansion and contraction over time. Grout could crack under those conditions, so caulk is the safer bet here.
