What Are These Weird Dots on My Rhipsalis Ramulosa?

I just received a rhipsalis ramulosa in the mail today, and I've noticed some strange dots all over the plant. I've encountered similar dots on other cacti and succulents before. I'm not sure if these are scale insects or some other type of pest. Should I be worried about this?

Another possibility could be surface imperfections or natural markings, especially since rhipsalis can sometimes have unique features. If the dots aren't sticky or causing the plant distress, it might just be a part of its natural appearance. Still, I'd keep an eye on it and watch for any signs of more serious pest problems.

Thanks for that perspective! It's good to know that it might just be a normal feature. I'll definitely monitor it and see if anything changes.

It sounds like you're dealing with scale, which can definitely be an issue on succulents and cacti. These pests suck the sap out of the plant, which can weaken it. I'd recommend inspecting the dots closely. If they are hard and waxy, they're likely scale. You can try removing them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. Just make sure to keep your plant in a spot with good air circulation and check it regularly for more pests!

Great tip! I've had issues with scale before, and that method worked wonders for me. Just be cautious not to damage any of the healthy tissue while cleaning.
