Are Protrusions on Interior Walls Normal After Siding Work?

I'm having my house re-sided for the first time, so I don't have a lot of experience to draw from. After a few days of work, I started noticing some protrusions on the interior drywall, and in some spots, the paint is chipping away. The contractor explained that this is probably due to the banging on the walls, especially where the nail holes in the Sheetrock or plaster have been covered. I want to confirm if this is truly normal. I've also noticed that some nails came through the window trim, and the contractor mentioned they used nails that were too long, which seems to be a point they're acknowledging. Most of these issues seem to be around areas where plywood was replaced for wood rot. Here are some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/tO8ydWo.

It’s not unusual if they're using drywall nails instead of screws. I deal with this all the time in new builds. You can push or hammer them back in and then just patch and repaint the wall, which should work fine. Just make sure they’re secure!

Thanks, that helps a lot! I'll probably try pushing them back in and then patching things up.

Definitely normal. Nails can come loose over time due to changes in humidity and the pounding from the siding work. The best solution is to replace the nails with drywall screws; then, you can fix the drywall and repaint. If you want a quick fix, you could just hammer the loose nails back in and patch up the drywall, but they might come loose again eventually.

Yeah, it's pretty normal. When they replace plywood outside and nail it down, that can cause movement in the studs, which pushes the drywall nails and leads to those pops you’re seeing. Using a nail gun can help reduce this issue since it delivers less impact. Just keep an eye on it!

That makes sense! I noticed they banged quite a bit—it felt like a construction zone!
