How Can I Protect My Windows from Vandalism?

Asked By SunnySky271 On

I came home yesterday to find one of my windows smashed. Thankfully, it looks like the vandal's goal wasn't breaking and entering—there was a small rock, about the size of a golf ball, lying nearby. I'm planning to fix the broken window, but I'm curious if there are any protective products I can apply to help prevent this from happening again. Is there any type of film or covering that could help? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Since this is the second time this has happened, have you thought about other preventive measures? Things like motion-activated sprinklers or cameras could deter future vandalism. Another idea is to put up plexiglass in front of your windows as a first line of defense—it can break, but it'll protect the actual window behind it from getting smashed!

Yeah, I’ve heard that takes the edge off for minor incidents like these. Plus, if you set up some cameras, it may discourage anyone from trying again!

If you’re looking for something to keep your glass from shattering, there are some interesting options out there. For instance, companies like Tap Plastics offer various protective coverings. There are also bulletproof window films, but those can get quite pricey! Just be mindful of your budget if you decide to go that route.

There are films available that can keep glass from shattering all over if it breaks, but they won’t stop the glass from breaking entirely. Still, it might be helpful in reducing the risk of injury from shattered glass if someone does manage to throw something at it. You might want to check out some safety films offered by brands like 3M for more info!
