Help! I Installed My Door Hinge Backwards – How Can I Fix This?

So, I've been dealing with a broken door that kept falling off its hinge for a while now. Today, I finally got around to fixing it! I took off the door and the hinge, and used some Gorilla Glue in the screw holes for support. However, I made a rookie mistake and put the hinge back on the wrong way. Now I can't get it off because the glue is solidified. I've even broken a knife trying! I'm not keen on ruining more tools or just buying a new door. Any tips on how to get this hinge off? Or should I just face the music and buy a replacement?

I’d love to see some photos to better understand what you’re dealing with. I’ve been through the wringer with old doors and rusty screws myself. If you can show what’s going on, I might have better suggestions!

Have you thought about trying acetone? It can sometimes dissolve strong glue like Gorilla Glue. Just be careful with where you apply it, so you don’t damage the door itself!

Honestly, you might be looking at needing a new door. If that glue has set, trying to get the hinge off could cause even more damage. You could use an oscillating tool to cut between the hinge and the door, but that’ll cost you. If you’re going to spend money, it might be easier just to buy a new door. It’ll save you the hassle!
