How Can I Make Coasters from MDF?

I'm looking for creative ways to make coasters using MDF. I know one method is to use decoupage paper to add pretty designs, and another could be simply cutting the MDF to shape and sealing it. Are there any other ideas or techniques for crafting MDF coasters?

Honestly, MDF might not be the best choice for coasters because it can get ruined by moisture. If you really want to use it, consider applying a ton of layers of polyurethane or epoxy to seal it and protect it from water damage. Just a heads up – it might not hold up well in the long run.

Yeah, I've seen MDF warp when it gets wet. Better safe than sorry!

That’s good advice, thanks! I might look into other materials too.

If you want to use MDF, try making a template out of it and then use that to route coasters from a sturdier hardwood. That way, you’ll have a durable coaster that looks good and isn’t as affected by moisture.

Great idea! Mixing materials can really enhance the durability.
