My air conditioning unit just gave up on me. The repair guy came by and said the issue lies with the control board, and he's supposed to check if the replacement part is in stock. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from him yet, and since it's already past 5 PM on a Friday (and a long weekend at that ?), I need some urgent solutions. Right now, it's scorching outside at 98 degrees and about 88 inside my house. I do have a few tower fans, but they're just circulating the hot air. I'm looking for some low-cost, DIY hacks to cool down my space. Anything like those clever redneck solutions?

If you're in a pinch, picking up a window AC unit could be your best bet. They’re pretty affordable at Walmart and can make a massive difference. You could even check local listings for used ones; a lot of folks buy them for a few weeks during heatwaves and then sell them off.
That’s a solid idea! I’ve seen some great deals at pawn shops too. People often buy these units, use them for a little while, and then sell them when the weather cools down.
