Hey everyone! I'm new to woodworking and I'm looking for some guidance as I plan to create a custom wooden case for my PC keyboard. I'll be using a CNC machine at a local shop, so I have access to some help with the technical side of things. My main concern is figuring out the right type of wood to use. I'm really into chestnut wood since I think it looks great with black keycaps, but I'm open to other suggestions if you have any. I'm unsure if I should opt for construction-grade wood or something more specialized. Also, I'd appreciate any advice on tools that could make my project smoother. I'm hoping to keep my budget around 30€ for the wood but I'm flexible if you think there's better options. The keyboard's dimensions are about 32cm long, 13.6cm wide, and 3.5cm high. Thanks in advance for your help!

If you can, it would help to share some pictures of what you're envisioning. It makes it easier for others to provide advice tailored to your design. If you haven't decided on a design yet, consider browsing other keyboard case boards. It might spark some ideas!
Check out the r/mechanicalkeyboards community! They have tons of wooden case builds that could inspire you, and you might even find some open-source files that can give you a head start. Just a heads-up though, avoid using construction lumber specifically for this project; it's not ideal for aesthetic builds.
I saw the term 'live edge walnut offcuts' mentioned and it's essentially pieces of wood cut along the natural edges of the tree. It can add a unique look to your project. If you're considering walnut, it's beautiful and strong, but just be sure to check your budget as it can get pricey!
