Hey everyone! I'm currently working on a sign project for a small business where I need to cut out some lettering from 1/4" hardboard. I was planning to use my Dremel 3000 with the 561 multipurpose bit, but I've encountered an issue—the bits seem to dull after only about 6 inches of cutting, and then they start burning the material. I'm really surprised since these bits are supposed to handle tougher materials like fiberglass, which makes me think hardboard shouldn't be too much trouble. I've tried adjusting the RPM and bit depth, but it seems that the material is just tough for this bit. I've also looked into the 562 bit meant for tiles and ceramics, as well as a tungsten "max life" 9903HP bit. Does anyone have suggestions for bits that could last longer for this kind of work? Thanks!

Kutzall bits are great, but if you're looking for something more affordable, you might want to try some carbide bits. They might not last as long as Kutzall, but they should cut through hardboard without dulling as quickly as the Dremel 561 bit. Just make sure to go slow and steady to avoid burning the edges.
Have you tried using Kutzall bits? They might be just what you need! They're designed to cut through a variety of materials and last a really long time if you handle them properly. They are a bit on the pricier side, but many users find them worth the investment.
