I'm growing grapes in the UK, but my mature vine hasn't flowered yet this year. I'm starting to wonder if I've missed the chance for grapes this season. Could pruning have affected its ability to flower? What should I do going forward?

Right now, it's peak grape harvest season, so it’s unfortunate your vine isn’t flowering. Remember, the best time to prune grapes is in the dead of winter. If you prune at the wrong time, you risk losing those precious fruiting buds. Plan to do a thorough prune next December or January. For now, focus on making sure your vine gets enough nutrients and manage its new growth.
It’s likely too late for any grapes this year. If the vine was going to flower, it would’ve done so months ago. If you pruned too much this past winter, you may have removed the developing flower buds. Don’t worry too much, though—next year should be better as long as you avoid overpruning again!
I appreciate your insights! So, if I pruned in December, was it possible that I cut off the flower buds for next year too?

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely mark my calendar to prune during winter!
