I'm trying to find a good source for moss since it's not available in my area. Should I collect moss from the wild and sterilize it by boiling, or is it better to order some online? Also, I'm a bit unsure if regular forest moss would work for my Alocasia, or if I need something specific.

Regular forest moss isn't ideal for plants like Alocasia. You might want to consider sourcing sphagnum moss online, which can hold a lot of moisture and often comes in a compressed brick that you just rehydrate. This could help with shipping costs, too! If online isn't an option, coco coir could be a decent substitute.

Gotcha! I was thinking of using sphagnum both for moss sticks and semi-hydro methods. Is wild moss really a no-go for such applications?
