What are some effective ways to soundproof my room?

I'm looking for some straightforward methods to soundproof my room. I live upstairs and there's a lot of noise coming from downstairs, which makes it hard for me to sleep since I'm a really light sleeper. Any suggestions?

If you're looking for a bit more, consider getting a thick carpet with padding. That can really help absorb sound. Also, make sure to seal any gaps around electrical boxes—those spaces can let a lot of noise through!

Why not just suck all the air out and create a vacuum? Just kidding! But yeah, soundproofing can be tricky. Good luck with it!

Don't forget about sound traveling through vents and electrical outlets! They can be like little sound tunnels, often just holes in walls. Keeping them sealed can make a big difference too!

Using a noise machine or an air purifier can really help drown out the sounds. Also, putting a blanket at the bottom of your door can block noise from slipping in. They work surprisingly well!

Totally agree about the noise machine! At first, I was skeptical, but now I can’t sleep without mine. It’s super portable too—only $25. I even keep some earplugs handy, they’re like $7, and they block out extra noise. Plus, a sleep mask helps too! Just keep in mind, if there's a fire, I might not hear the alarm...
