We've been deep into a major kitchen remodel since May, and it's finally coming together! On Friday, we had electricians in the morning and a flooring contractor in the afternoon applying the final coat to our new floors. Although we expected a strong smell when we returned home, what we found was far worse. I noticed a milky liquid pooled in the sink's drain stop. When I tried rinsing it out, it wouldn't budge, so I had to pry it out with my fingernail. It looked like silicone, and unfortunately, there's a lot more of it all over the sink—on the drain, the porcelain, and even the protective wire rack. I'm suspecting the flooring guy used the sink for washing something. My big question is: can this mess be fixed, or is my expensive sink ruined for good? It cost over $1300, and our project manager won't be back until Monday to assess it.

You might want to just leave it as is for now. If you try to mess with it too much, the flooring guy could claim you caused the problem. It's best to show it to your project manager or the flooring guy directly so they can take responsibility for fixing or replacing it.
Definitely don’t try to scrub it or anything just yet. Show it to your flooring contractor—they're the ones who should handle it. If it's really polyurethane, they might know how to clean it up without damaging the sink.
