I recently got my solar permit approved, and interestingly, there are no requirements for panel-level rapid shutdown (RSD) devices mentioned. The authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) didn't raise any objections during the approval process. I've also checked with the electric company, and they told me we just follow the city's solar requirements. However, I'm wondering if during the inspection, they might require some tests that would involve RSD devices? For context, I'm installing two Growatt 10kW string inverters.

It really depends on where you're located. The National Electrical Code (NEC) has different requirements for different areas. In states like Indiana and Kansas, the 2008 NEC doesn't require RSD. You'll want to check which NEC version applies to your area to be sure. If you’re in Prosper, Texas, there might be specific local codes to consider too.
As long as your permit was approved without any mention of RSD devices, you're generally in the clear. The inspections usually focus on ensuring you built it according to the approved plans. So, if RSDs weren't part of your approved plans, you shouldn't need to worry about them during the inspection.
