Hey everyone, I'm a new homeowner and I bought a big old house last year that's got tons of potential. I'm planning to rent it out in a few years, but right now, I'm dealing with a serious eyesore: the entire brick exterior is covered in this awful navy blue paint. Underneath, there's also a layer of white paint that's visible in the spots where the navy is chipping off. I'm really not a fan of the current look, and I've read that stripping paint off brick can be pretty expensive and maybe even impossible. I'm looking for any advice or experiences from you all. Should I just repaint over it, or is stripping it a practical option? Also, I added some pics here: https://imgur.com/a/l4kQOJK

Honestly, just repainting is probably your best bet. Stripping it is a huge hassle; you'd need to go at it with a wire cup brush on an angle grinder, and it would take forever. Plus, you might not even get all the paint off. If you want, you could try testing it out on a small spot behind the bushes first. Just remember to wear a mask and goggles when you go for it! Good luck with it!

What if I try both? I could use the brush to get off as much paint as possible before I repaint. Would that help the new paint stick better?
