Best Base for a 6×5 Garden Shed in Massachusetts?

I'm considering buying a 6x5 garden shed and I have some leftover materials from my retaining wall project, specifically dense grade aggregate and clean 3/4 inch gravel. I think I can manage a 4 inch thick layer of dense grade and a 2 inch layer of gravel. My plan is to lay down 2 inches of compacted dense grade on the ground, install a 4x4 wooden perimeter, then add another 2 inches of dense grade within the perimeter, finishing it with 2 inches of gravel on top. Is this a solid approach for a shed base in Massachusetts? Also, I'm concerned about potential water traps between the dense grade and gravel layers. Any advice?

A gravel foundation is definitely a solid idea! However, rather than relying solely on the dense grade and gravel, you might want to consider using pavers or cinder blocks at the corners to elevate the shed slightly off the ground. This can help with drainage. And since you're already putting in all this effort, consider resizing the shed to at least 8' x 6'. It might give you a better overall space!

That's a good point! Elevating it can help prevent moisture issues.
