What are the best flowers to plant in the fall for my garden?

Hey everyone! I just took out some old, dead plants from the front of my house and I'm looking for recommendations on the best flowers to plant this fall. Ideally, I want something that can come back year after year since I'm in the Northeast. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Have you thought about Black-eyed Susans? They add such a vibrant pop! If you want something even easier, coneflowers are fantastic in the fall, too. Just a heads-up, they get pretty wild!

I think we have some Black-eyed Susans elsewhere in the yard. They're so lovely!

You might want to consider asters or even balloon flowers if you have full sun—they're pretty low maintenance. Also, mixing in some colorful annuals like petunias and pansies could keep things lively until spring. Just know that petunias can be a bit thirsty, so keep an eye on watering them!

I planted some petunias last year and they thrived! But I had to water them pretty often. Pansies held up well through the winter, too!

You can't go wrong with perennials this time of year! They go dormant in winter but their roots stay alive, so they'll pop back up in spring. Think about what you want in your garden: what colors, textures, or bloom times do you prefer? Also, consider how much sunlight your area gets. If you have some shrubs already, planting flowers alongside them can be really nice too! Let us know what you decide!

Thanks for the advice! We get a lot of direct sunlight, and I love colorful blooms. I’m new to gardening, so I want something easy to manage and I need to plant soon since I have an event coming up!
