What Are the Best Plants to Keep Outside Year-Round?

I'm totally new to plants and I'm moving into my first apartment soon. Is there any type of plant that I can safely leave outside all year long? I really don't have the space to bring them indoors during the winter months.

It really depends on your climate! If you're in a more temperate region, there are plenty of hardy plants that can survive tough winters. For example, in Arizona, you might get away with oleander and lantanas. But in a place like Washington, many plants can be left outside as long as you trim them back before the snowfall. Take a stroll around your neighborhood or local parks to see what grows well in your area—those plants are likely to do the same for you!

That's a great tip! I’ll definitely be checking out the local flora.

Yeah, using a plant identifier app sounds like an awesome way to learn more!

A good starting point is figuring out your planting zone. Once you know that, you'll have a clearer idea of which plants will thrive outside year-round in your area. There are loads of resources available based on planting zones, and many gardeners share their experiences online!

Thanks for the advice! I had no idea about the zones before.
