I just got an air compressor that seems to be stuck at 30psi. It builds pressure up to that point and holds it fine, but it just keeps running without turning off unless I shut it down myself. I've checked the air filter, and that seems okay. What should I check next?

You might want to check the relief valve; it could be opening too early, preventing the compressor from building to its intended pressure. That would be the first thing I’d look at.
First things first, is it the tank pressure that’s capped at 30psi, or is that the regulated output? Make sure you're checking the right gauge. If the tank pressure is stuck, it could be an issue with the pressure switch not shutting off the pump once it hits the set limit.
Also, don’t forget about the bleed valve at the bottom of the tank. If that’s open, it might just be letting air escape, keeping you stuck at 30psi. It’s meant for draining moisture from the tank, so make sure it’s closed when you’re using it!
Exactly! And while we're at it, remember to drain your tank regularly to avoid rusting from moisture build-up.
Totally, draining after every use is a good rule of thumb. Moisture can really mess with the tank over time.

He did mention the pump keeps running, which could mean it's not reaching its unload pressure. Normally, it should kick off within a few minutes after hitting the pressure, so something's likely not right.
