Hey everyone! I'm new to spoon carving and looking for some solid recommendations for a beginner kit. I think making spoons would be a fun way to dive into this hobby, whether I'm at home or out camping. Can anyone suggest a good kit, keeping it under $100?

If you're just starting out, you'll want to consider whether you're working from bandsawn blanks or logs. For a straight knife, the Mora 106 is top-notch for the price. Also, I'd suggest not skimping too much on a hook knife; spending a bit more gets you a noticeable quality upgrade. I'm leaning towards using logs since I can probably find some material when camping or through my job as an arborist.
