Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing great! I've been having some fun with my table saw (DW7491RS) mounted on a stand, but I'm looking to build a solid and mobile workbench around it. I want to avoid the hassle of the stand and outfeed table when I need to move the saw. I'm curious about what type of casters would be best for this project. What features should I consider? Are brakes essential? Should I go for self-leveling ones? What about material - should I use cast iron, rubber, or polyurethane? I've even seen foldable casters for when the bench is stationary. This is my first big piece of shop furniture, so I'd love your input. Thanks in advance!

I use a specific type of casters on all my workbenches, including the one I built for that same table saw. They work really well and make moving the bench much easier! Check this link for what I use: https://a.co/d/eBWbwnz
I switched from casters to movers corner dollies for my shop furniture. I rarely need to move things around, and this has been a game changer for me. Super easy and stable!
This is new for me! Thanks for the tip!
Machine casters are the way to go! They have wheels as well as non-moving feet, with a screw mechanism to raise and lower. When you raise them, the bench is mobile, and when you lower them, it’s stable on the ground. Just make sure to get ones rated for at least twice the weight for smooth operation!
Oh, so that’s what they’re called! I’ve been considering them too because having a ton of weight on wheels doesn't seem stable, and you're right—none of the casters I'm looking at seem to lock down completely.

Thanks, I'll definitely check those out. They look way better than the cheaper ones I saw at HF!
