Hi everyone! I'm diving into my first serious gardening venture, and I'm thrilled with how my pepper plants are growing. I have four different varieties that should all be red at harvest, but every pepper I've picked over the past few weeks has had brown or black, decayed seeds and ribs inside. The outer skin is still firm and crisp, but I'm hesitant to eat them with such a nasty interior. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Am I over or under-watering them? I've even tried picking some when they're only partially red, but the problem persists. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I have a few pepper plants in the same bed too, and half of them are rotting inside while the others are perfectly fine. I had this issue last year as well and I'm still not sure what causes it. It’s really frustrating! Maybe it's something in the soil?
This could be related to blossom end rot, which usually happens due to calcium deficiency. It's often confused with rotting issues, but since you mentioned it seems like they're decaying from the inside, it might be that they’re just starting to rot for another reason.
Yeah, it doesn’t sound like blossom end rot. It seems more like they are rotting from the inside out, which can happen for various reasons. Maybe check your watering practices? Too much or too little could be the culprit.

I'm in the same boat! Mine are in a brand new raised bed with loamy soil mixed with 20% compost and some organic fertilizer. It drains well, and I water them every other day when it doesn't rain, but they still have the same issue.
