I'm curious about the pricing differences between the 996B and the newer 1007B models. The 996B is priced at 239, while the 1007B is only 184. Shouldn't the newer model have a higher price? Are they trying to push sales on the 1007? I noticed the price goes up when you add a battery pack, but I feel like the 996 with two 5Ah batteries is quite the deal. I really need a new hammer drill, so I'm looking for some insights into this pricing situation. Thanks everyone!

That’s wild! I saw the 1007 with an 8Ah battery drop from 349 to 245 on Amazon recently. Definitely keep an eye out for deals!
I'd say go for the 1007! It’s a beast of a drill.
I’d recommend the 1007 too. It’s super powerful, but look for deals on the battery packs if you can. The 996 isn’t a huge downgrade, but if you can get updated batteries with the 1007, it’s worth it!
The 996B is an older model that hasn't been discontinued, so it tends to stick to its MSRP. When a new tool like the 1007 comes out, they usually run promotions on the older ones. After a while, the newer model can often be found at a lower price compared to the older. The 1007 is more powerful, has an anti-kickback feature, and is shorter, though it is wider. If you can grab the 1007 for cheaper than the 996, definitely go for it!
The 1007 is shockingly powerful! It’s hands down the best cordless drill I’ve ever used. I even used it to dig post holes with a 6" auger without any issues.
