How to Remove a Triple Sink Drain When Installing a New Garbage Disposal?

Asked By CraftyUser92 On

I recently installed new countertops and a sink, but it turns out the sink has a center/back drain instead of a center drain like I thought. Now, the garbage disposal is getting in the way of the sink drain. I need some advice on how I can remove this triple sink drain setup at the wall and replace it with a single pipe that runs towards the right.

It sounds like you might need to cut the three-way tee pipe where it connects to the wall. Leave a male slip joint sticking out to attach a new section of piping. After that, you can clean it up and attach a 45-degree angle fitting, or whatever angle works best to clear the disposal. If you find the male slip difficult to remove later, they sell pipe reamers that can help with that.

So I cut right at the end of the three-way part? It sounds like I’ll be left with a short male end sticking out that I’ll need to remove to connect the new pipe. Got it!
