How Do You Keep Cat-Friendly Houseplants?

Asked By CuriousCat22 On

I have four cats and a ton of houseplants at home. To keep my plants safe, I've been putting them on high furniture and even using some creative setups with tinfoil to deter my curious kitties. However, I'm running out of space, and the clutter is getting to me! I'm looking for effective strategies to manage my houseplants while ensuring they're safe from my furry friends. Any ideas?

One option I've seen is using glass-front cabinets, like those from Ikea, as an indoor "grow house" for your plants. This keeps them out of reach from the cats while still looking nice. I'm planning on doing the same with my living room setup soon since my wife’s spider plants have been chewed on!

That's a great idea! I think securing the plants in a cabinet will not only protect them but also reduce the mess you might be dealing with.

I’m a bird owner, so I have some different challenges, but here are a few tips that might help. First, consider installing hooks in the ceiling to suspend some plants. Making the plants less attractive and providing more engaging toys might divert your cats' attention. Also, you could train them to avoid certain areas or put the plants in a room with a closed door when you can't supervise them.

Great tips! I’ll definitely try adding more toys and see if that helps.

I recently purchased a plant stand similar to this [one I loved](https://a.co/d/fTcIGLb). It's been perfect for my setup and keeps things organized. Just be attentive to the space available in your rooms.

That looks awesome! I have a few areas being redecorated, so I’ll have to see if I have room for it.
